What Selva is
Selva (栖野) is a free page by Ruishu: nature soundscapes, fractal visuals, and 4-2-6 breathing together. Chinese: 栖野中文.
Selva puts three evidence-backed ways to unwind on one page: nature soundscapes, natural fractal visuals, and paced breathing. Use them alone or together—headphones on, watch the flow field, listen to rain, follow the halo.
🌿 Nature sounds: research associates environmental nature sounds with lower cortisol, parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) activation, and masking ambient noise to help sleep.
🌿 Fractal visuals: the visual cortex processes natural patterns with fractal dimension D≈1.3–1.5 (branches, coastlines, clouds) most efficiently. Richard Taylor’s group at Oregon State University found viewing such patterns can reduce stress-related physiological markers by about 60%. The flow field and growing tree here are designed in that range.
🌿 Paced breathing: inhale 4s → hold 2s → exhale 6s. The lengthened exhale approaches resonance frequency—one of the better-studied ways to raise HRV and settle quickly.
· Work break: visuals + breath halo, about 2 minutes to reset attention
· Before sleep: Rain night / Campfire + timer, headphones
· When anxious: follow 4-2-6 for about 6 cycles
This is a daily relaxation aid, not medical advice. If anxiety or sleep problems persist, seek professional help. Sound and visuals are generated locally in the browser. We collect no data.
